sandratayler@livejournal.com BioI'm a work-from-home mother of four kids. For online purposes I call them Kiki, Link, Gleek, and Patch. I'm married to Howard Tayler of Schlock Mercenary fame. We've self published five Schlock books so far. The fifth will be released in June 2009. The sixth Schlock book has been delayed by a collaborative project with Tracy and Curtis Hickman, XDM: X-Treme Dungeon Mastery, which we expect to release in August 2009. More Schlock books will be forthcoming in 2010. Each book brings us enough money to pay bills for about 6 months. I do the layout work on the books as well as managing all the accounting and shipping for the cartooning business.
I am a writer. I write science fiction and fantasy short stories as well as essays on life and parenting. My first story sale was to the Ages of Wonder anthology due out in March 2009. Another story is available at the e-zine Lorelei Signal. Other samples of what I do can be found on my website, sandra.tayler.com. In July 2008 we released a children's book that I wrote called Hold on to Your Horses. More details can be found on the Hold on to Your Horses website.
We are members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. You may hear this religion refered to as "LDS" or "Mormon." My religion is incredibly important in my life, but many of the ways that it is important to me don't get discussed in this public forum. Some things are sacred and should stay that way.
When I'm not managing business stuff, "Mommying," writing, or managing our household, I garden, birdwatch, read (mostly fantasy & sci fi), sew, and occasionally find time to sleep. I consider myself a "gamer" because I grew up playing Dungeons & Dragons with my older siblings. I continue to enjoy role playing and strategy games although with everything else I don't get much time to play. Most of the hobby activities have not been given much time or attention for the past few years, but I'll get back to them someday.
